Those of you lucky enough to have attended New York Comic Con might have seen LEGO's unveiling of their new DC Super Hero Girls line, but for the rest of us: YES! There is going to be a DC Super Hero Girls line of LEGOs coming soon!
This will not be the first line of all-girl LEGO sets. LEGO Friends and their Princesses lines have both been successful, and their Elves line (which does include some boys) has been as well. But as we all know, not all girls are alike. We don't all like playing with the same sorts of toys, and I know a lot of children were looking for some more action oriented sets featuring female characters to build and play with, versus the talent show, house, yacht type sets that were available in the Friends line.
With the new DC Super Hero Girls line, girls can enjoy playing with a roster of characters the celebrates power and diversity among women and girls. LEGO has unveiled six sets of the toys so far. The first three sets will premiere on November 27 in the United States, and the remaining three will launch in January 2017.
According to the LEGO press release, "DC Super Hero Girls provides children with a relatable world filled with aspirational characters, immersive stories and action-packed missions that inspire girls aged 7-10 to be smart, courageous and empowered to be an everyday Super Hero." The collection will feature eleven popular characters, including Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Bumblebee, Flash, Eclipso, Lena Luther, Lashina, and Mad Harriet.
Shoppers can find the first three sets, the Batgirl Batjet, Harley Quinn to the Rescue, and Super Hero High School, in time for their holiday shopping!
