If you are a Sherlock lover, chances are you are waiting anxiously for the next season of the BBC show to arrive. The last episode of season 3 left fans in angst, with the re-appearance of a villain most thought had been vanquished.
BBC has been dishing out a couple of goodies, however, including this new image of Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) that was released on the official Sherlock website yesterday.
Last season, things got a lot more personal at 221b Baker Street. For much of the first two seasons, viewers got to know Holmes and Watson slowly as they went about solving mysteries, and the shows were a bit more episodic. Important characters were introduced, but they were part of the stories, and while it was easy to become sucked into the show and love the characters for who they were, we didn't really get a deep view.
In season 3, however, things changed. As time went on, we got to know these characters more, and if other fans are anything like me, we started to feel even more of a connection to them. And of course...that's when Moffat and the rest of the show's creator's struck. The stories became a lot more personal and connected. Instead of there being episodic adventures, now we saw the interconnectedness of events, we saw more of the characters' pasts, their inner demons. And villains were brought on who really fed these demons. Yet I think the show really succeeded in keeping its heart. Things got deep, yet everything fans loved about the show was still there.
We still have several months to go before season 4 of Sherlock comes out, but I'm hoping for more trailers and images to come, because this girl is Sherlocked!
Here is the official trailer for season 4. What do you think? Any speculations?
